Playing dress-up
Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

I enjoyed seeing James’s antlers picture, and hearing Jenna talk about it on Craig Ferguson’s show last night. It’s all so familiar to me. You see, my wonderful wife loves dressing things up. Especially our cat Harvey. Harvey has learned to expect being dressed up, but sometimes it takes a bit of convincing. In the photo below, Becky was having a little discussion with Harvey about whether he’d wear a Santa outfit for a photo. Harvey said “no,” Becky said “yes.”

What tends to happen is that Becky will get Harvey into an outfit, and then he’ll come to me to have it removed. I always help him out. What are dads for?

The picture above is from a couple of years ago. This year, we tried to get Harvey to dress up for a Christmas card picture, but he wasn’t in the mood. After struggling with it for a while, we gave up. He posed for the card photo completely nude. Despite that, I think the final product turned out quite well. Here’s the front.

And here’s the back. As you can see, Harvey had to take out a little of his aggression on Santa Claus.

We had them press printed by White House Custom Colour, and I think they did a great job. It’s a real printed card on card stock, like the ones you buy at the store.

Of course, since Harvey didn’t go along with the dress-up game this year, Becky had to release her creative energy elsewhere. Poor Dwight Schrute.
