Two years
Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Yesterday was our two year wedding anniversary. It doesn’t seem like two years ago that we were walking down the aisle, but the calendar doesn’t lie. To celebrate, we went to Alderbrook Resort on the Hood Canal. It was our first time there, and it’s a really beautiful place.

January is clearly their slow season. Ours was apparently one of only six rooms occupied last night. It sure made for a quiet stay, and getting a table at the restaurant was no problem at all. The room was really nice, with a neat daybed and a great view of the water.

The room had a balcony, which we put to use for a little impromptu photo session.

The resort also includes a spa, and we took advantage of that by getting massages — something I think we need to do more often. It was grey, cool and drizzling most of the time we were there. As most of you probably know, that’s not my favorite kind of weather. But the whole place was so beautiful and peaceful that the weather didn’t bother me. I suspect the atmosphere would be a little different in the summer, when it’s packed with people, but I’d love to check it out again.

It was a short trip, but it was really relaxing and a perfect way to celebrate two wonderful years. Now we have to figure out what to do next year. Suggestions?
