TIBTIL: GarlicZoom!
Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

It’s been a while since I’ve written a TIBTIL post, but this gadget really earns it. It’s the Chef’n GarlicZoom. Chef’n is a local company and they make a lot of cool stuff, but this is my favorite thing of theirs so far. I generally try to follow the Alton Brown philosophy of avoiding unitaskers, and this thing does fall into that category (at least, I haven’t found a second use for it). But mincing garlic is a chore I’ve always hated, and even with the great garlic press I have, pressed garlic isn’t quite the same. The GarlicZoom makes mincing garlic quick, easy and clean. You just open the door in the top, put in the (peeled) garlic cloves, and roll it around. The blades inside chop the garlic perfectly. Then you pop it open, dump out the garlic and put the machine in the dishwasher. Call me a wimp, but I think this is awesome.

It’s a pretty simple gadget, so there’s not much more to say than: I love this thing!
