Last week, Becky and I got to go on a hot air balloon ride from Woodinville. It was amazing. We really lucked out with great weather that day; it had been raining a couple of days prior, and most of the days since have been at least cloudy and cool.

Here are some of my favorite images from the flight. The yellow balloon was ours; the one with vertical stripes was the other half of the group we flew with.

Howdy! Looks beautiful… especially the houses down below! My uncle Mike has his pilot’s license for hot air balloons and took me up when I was a kid. There are two things that oddly stand out for me: 1) The balloon I was in was called “Eat Your Heart Out.” It had a large heart on the side with a chunk taken out of it. 2) We flew over dead cows. We were somewhere near/over the Bentley Science Park and there were some cows laying on the ground with their legs sticking straight up… it was bizarre.

Aside from that, the trip was amazing. I’d love to do it again sometime, and I can’t imagine doing it there in Washington. What a view! One other thing that struck me was the silence. It’s so beautiful and peaceful.
