Special envelope slot?

U-Park

What’s so special about the envelopes that go in that slot? Or is it the slot itself that’s supposed to be special? I wasn’t impressed.

Home sweet home

David Adam Edelstein wrote about a yard design project today, and it really increased my already strong interest in actually owning a house. I’m not planning to buy any time soon (certainly not this year, and probably not next), but I’ve been thinking and reading a lot about it lately. I think something must be wrong with me when reading about someone doing hard labor for no pay makes me want to go spend many, many thousands of dollars to be able to do the same.

Line of people

I saw a line of people standing outside Cinerama again on the way home from work today. That happens a lot there.

Being only a few blocks from home (and playing such obviously popular selections), Cinerama would seem like a great place for me to go see movies. But they have an uncanny ability to pick movies that I have no desire to see and play them for weeks on end. I guess that means I’m not in their target market. So, despite the fact that I can walk to Cinerama in five minutes or less, I end up going there only about once a year — usually when friends really want to go see something there. Last week was a small exception to the rule. We saw Anger Management there, and it was pretty good. Definitely not a normal Cinerama film.

Most of the time, I have to be content to walk a few more blocks to Pacific Place or Meridian 16 if I want to see a movie I actually like.

Pay phone

Someone left their gum on top of this phone. I guess they took it out when they were talking to someone. What I wonder is whether they were planning to put it back in their mouth after they put it there. I really hope not.
